Little Accident - Could Be A Big Problem !

You are driving in heavy slow traffic and you are hit from behind by another vehicle.  You get out - see no damage to the rear of your car and tell the other driver "to forget about it...".  Unfortunately your decision may end up having quite negative consequences for you.  Why?  If the other driver is not similarly inclined they may later report to either, or both, the police and their insurance company that you stopped suddenly and caused the collision and that THEY ARE INJURED !  Now you have a personal injury claim being brought against you and your insurance company and no documentation as to how or what happened.

If you are involved in a collision call the police and make a report immediately - make sure your version of what occurred is recorded for purposes of protecting you - even if you do not intend on bringing a claim against the other driver(s).  Secondly, always report any collisions to your insurance company even if you are not going to make a claim to prevent your insurance company from denying you coverage based on your alleged failure to have timely reported the collision to your insurance company.
